The Blockchain Meetup, which was held in collaboration with Zemin Istanbul and Inkube, took place on February 25, 2020 at Zemin Istanbul.
Blockchain is a distributed database that provides encrypted transaction tracking, allowing digital data to be distributed and not copied. In a normal database, any agentless user can connect to the network, post new transactions, verify transactions, and create new blocks. However, in a blockchain distributed database, where each piece of information is stored in blocks connected to each other, with advanced encryption algorithms, users are allowed to operate it without being connected to a center. Thus, secure transactions are carried out between the buyer and the seller directly.
This concept constitutes the structure of a brand new internet type that was actually prepared for the digital currency Bitcoin. However, the technology community is finding new potential uses for this technology. In this context, in the presentation the speaker Tuna ÖZEN answers the questions, ‘What is Blockchain and what is it not? What are the main components of blockchain?’ He informed the participants about the general location of blockchain technology, which is prominent among Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) modeling, token and cryptocurrencies, smart contracts, and blockchain sectoral usage areas.
