Our earthquake Hackathon event, scheduled to take place between 13-15 March 2020 in Istanbul, was postponed to a later date due to the global health crisis. Institutions in various sectors were also affected by this situation and decided to continue their activities through online platforms such as meetings, training and seminars.
The Earthquake Hackathon will take place in a digital platform from May 28-31, 2020, within the framework of measures taken against the Covid-19 danger, in order to transform innovative product and service ideas into projects that incorporate a new solution that has not been written before through data.
Those who want to solve post-earthquake communication problems with data-driven and innovative ideas are competing.
The Hackathon, organized by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the Turkish Informatics Foundation, aims to produce solutions for communication problems that may occur between victims, their relatives and rescue teams during and after a possible earthquake. The selected teams will spend 84 hours trying to develop innovative solutions using new technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, the Internet of things. Teams will get a chance to develop their projects during the Hackathon, with mentoring from experts from different disciplines and fields.
