The “IoT Technologies and Our Cities” event, organized under the “Smart City Talks”, was held by the Head of IT IMM IT Department. It took place in Toprak Istanbul on February 4, with the participation of Erol Özgüner and Digital System Consulting Founder and Digital Transformation Consultant Onur Turan.
Our changing world, our smart homes, our vehicles, our cities… We live in an era where socio-cultural changes are felt more and more with the new technologies being integrated more into our lives. Our home life, friendship relations, the way we do business, and of course the environment we live in, get their share from these new technologies. So, how aware of this change are we, how ready do we feel for the future? In this context, Onur Turan and Erol Özgüner focused on the concepts of smart cities, new technologies, Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning, and deep learning.
Digital Transformation Consultant Onur Turan focused on the four basic concepts required for the Smart City concept to be successful.
These concepts are;
- Investments to be made in the development of connection and infrastructure systems, which are an important factor in the applications to be integrated into the city
- The concept of open data (open data) and its contributions to companies
- The concept of security
- How is this business transformed into monetizable concepts?
Erol Özgüner and Onur Turan went through four items and sought answers to the question of what areas we should do to make Istanbul a smart city. In response to the traffic problem of Istanbul, projects carried out in other countries related to traffic management systems, vehicle sharing applications and incentives for public transportation were shared with the participants.
Onur Turan stated that 5G, which can manage 1000 times more mobile data than today’s cellular connection systems, also part of a giant skeleton in connecting both fixed and mobile systems such as cars and household goods, and makes a significant contribution to the internet of things. Thus, he explained that we can connect even the most extreme devices to the internet and get the data on those devices at high speed. He stated that the speed problem of driverless cars and smart transportation applications, which is one of the most important issues, will disappear with 5G.
Up to 670 thousand people with disabilities live in Istanbul, Turkey. In this context, Erol Özgüner explained that there are applications that IMM developed, and that their launch activities have started.
Erol Özgüner, Istanbul is the city in Turkey with the most guest. He announced there would be publicity for a tourism application in the future.
Our speakers Erol Özgüner, Head of IMM Department of Information Technologies and Onur Turan, Digital Transformation Consultant, ended the event by answering the questions of the participants.
